its hilarious how the western media never reports news of tibetians killing native (han) chinese during the riots. my dad holds a position in the politburo and just left for china (tibet) today from LA. More han chinese have been injured and killed than tibetians.
It's gotten so bad that Tibetians use steel clubs to beat Chinese civilians on the streets of Lhasa.
Also, before any ignorant comments come out of more Americans, please read a non biased history of Tibet and Tibetian society. If you knew more about what actually went on, instead of following ideas spewed from the mouths of Bjork and Richard Gere, you would pull a GWB/Iraq in Tibet with every single resource you have.
Case in point: My grandfather had a human skin lampshade that he took from a temple during the "liberation". Even until his death in 1996, he still refused to tell anyone about the things he saw as a soldier and then as a general in Tibet.

While i do believe that excessive policing and the restriction of religious freedoms is unnecessary, most of the "free tibet" advocates really have no idea what they're talking about.

china is trying change tibet like the united states is trying to change iraq, i was simply trying to make a reference to it.
seems like the only people that care are over nationalistic fobs.
:dunno:

because it seems like many "non nationalistic fobs" are concerned about it. look it up.

China has some absurd methods and the way they run their nation is deplorable. Their media is so tightly controlled that it's hard for us to grasp the big picture, but China is a huge violator of human rights of their own people. It's a shame that they're becoming so powerful. I suspect the reason the world let's them get away with what they do is because of their economic prowess.

their "economic prowess" is solely based on their excess of labor, which i believe is an underlying reason as to why they never wanna let anything/anybody go

I'm a white american male that just got back from spending 2 weeks in china.
You know nothing. I felt safe no matter where I was in China. I could get on CNN and other western media outlets. Everybody there is chillin/happy for the most part, I'd say 99% of the population are just living their lives pretty chill style. The big picture that we need to grasp is this: China is a different country with different views on things, same with it's people. We can't understand them because we're Americans but because the people of this country are so arrogant and ignorant we think every country should be just like us. But guess what? Our country is the one going downhill while others rise. China's been around longer than any other current civilization. STFU and try to actually learn something from them instead of criticizing what you don't understand and never will.
^
I'll be there in two weeks and the people I'm going with say there is so much more than the media in the US shows.
No, but they could be nice and give us a free pass on our loans.

California has a large mexican population. Should they be able to just claim independence from the US all of a sudden in the name of freedom? Do you really think the US would just be like "LOL OK GUYZ HAVE SOME FREEDOM"?

It is a common occurance for people to disappear in China after speaking out against their government. Sure people go about their business and live their daily lives, but that doesn't mean they aren't a huge violator of human rights. Moreso than most "civilized" societies. There's just no way around that.
lets go tibet! they should have there freedom just like everybody else except china
tibet is a part of china.
freejus has a good example.

tibet is a backwards isolated place it would probably benefit both sides if they just left them alone to do their own thing

you don't have to put (han) everytime you mention China. It really doesn't make a difference to most non-Chinese persons.

Most African and Middle-Eastern civilizations have been around longer than "Western civilization". What do we have to learn from them? :squint:
China needs to learn from us (and they are slowly)--not the other way around.
