This amp - Kicker KX800.4

This sub - Alpine 10" Type R
http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=SWR-1022D
(link is for 2ohm, one i might purchase might be 4 ohm)

Everything is already wired in the car, current sub blew up. Previous owner has the front speakers (only speakers) wired with each side on its own channel on the amp. The sub was being powered off the other two channels bridged. I cant remember off the top of my head how the sub was wired inside the box. I can pick up a used Type R for 75 in a box.

it will be fine, but you should try to go with a dual 2 ohm sub and wire it to 4 ohms, or you'll have to wire the dual 4 to 8 ohms to bridge the amp. Kicker amps don't like 2 ohms bridged if they aren't rated for it.

You're kind of speaking greek to me. I'm not sure if the sub I might be able to buy is 2 or 4 ohm. And I'm not sure how the amp is wired currently.

lol, sorry.

as long as the final load on the bridged channels is at most 4 ohms, you will be fine. see if you can find out the configuration of the sub you want to buy.
