This is tricky to add. Its somewhere in the navbar template then you have to copy it out and paste it in the showthread template. You have to edit out some parts though so the welcome "username" and the nav bar doesn't show.

Actually you can pretty much already do this with the "forum jump" bar at the bottom right

why has this not been done yet. Posts per hour would probably double if I didnt have to scroll back to the top after every thread.

Yeah, the navbar template can be a bitch if it contains non standard graphics/layout. I always prefer to stick with skins which use the normal layout as the default does.
The mod is called breadcrumbs BTW.
