First you need to make a JPN PSN account, follow these instructions:

How to Create a Japanese PS Network Account
Well if you're like me, you like anything for free and today I found a free way to some import gaming! How awesome is that?

So what we're going to need to do is create a Playstation Network Account. Since you probably already have US account associated with your current user, you'll probably have to create a new user on your PS3.

After that, create a new PS Network. When you do this, instead of selecting United States as your country, Select Japan. From there, we have some forms to fake our way through.

I'm borrowing pictures from Kotaku (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ps3/signing-up-for-a-playstation-network-japanese-account-214253.php) since I don't have a nice HDTV to take pictures of. You wouldn't want pictures from my CRT TV!

It will then ask if you want a master or sub account. Choose master (the top choice)

After that click the button on the bottom right to continue past the agreement

Now comes the first text fields. In the top one, put in an e-mail address. I used a spam.la address (you can make up whatever you want @spam.la no registration required. You can then go to spam.la to check you address by putting in your prefix in the filter). Then enter your password twice. And finally whatever you want in the last box. That would be your password retrieval answer.

Now enter your online alias aka gamertag. It does check against US lists (I think) so come up with something other than your US PS Account.

Now I believe this next form is your name and gender and something else...I'm not really sure. Just enter random crap.

Next is the address (I think?) form. First text field is a 3 digit number (I used 123). I used the first option in the drop down box (any of the 3-character ones). Then the rest was random garbage.

Now I think it asks you if you want to put money in your PS Network Store Wallet. Choose the second option otherwise you have to put in your credit card (I think).

There's one more screen with a single check box. I don't know what it is but I didn't check it. Afterwards, that's about it.

To put the card on to your Japanese PSN account follow these steps (since Account Management is in Japanese):

1) From the XMB, click on Account Management
2) Second Option (would be Transaction on English PSN)
3) Top option (Wallet in Japanese)
4) Top option again (add credits to wallet)
5) Bottom option (Playstation Network Card/Ticket)
6) Add card number
7) Click right button on bottom
8) ?????
9) Profit

You can also choose the second option on the transaction screen instead of the top option. This will bring you to a screen where you put the card code in and viola, it's added to your account.

Asian PS1 and PS2 games are HARDWARE locked, PS3 games are region free.

This will only allow you to DOWNLOAD Japanese PS1 software that may have never been released in the US.

gotcha, i have a modded ps2 but its getting kinda old... Does anyone know of a software mod to save ps3 games on the hard drive?

Save PS3 Games on the hard drive? what do you mean? I know there was an update for the PS3 back in like February that allowed PS2 games that utilizes a hard drive to use the PS3 hard drive.

Not possible yet, but it shouldn't be long. With newer PS3 games at about 40gb each, you'd need a huge HDD to have a decent collection without having to swap HDDs like cartridges.

There is a way to save PS2 games onto the HDD in a PS2, look up HD Loader.

This guide isn't as easy as it should be. Some of the steps have changed with the PSN update. What I did, I wrote down the steps from an English (USA) new account. It's the same shit any other language. Here's the breakdown:

Screen 1 (Globe icon): Region


Country
Language
Date of Birth


Screen 2: User Agreement (click on right button to accept)

Screen 3 (Envelope icon): Create Login

Sign-in ID (email address)
Password
Re-enter Password
[ ] Save Password check box
Security Question (drop-down)
Answer


Screen 4 (Happy Face icon): Online ID aka PSN Tag (keep entering something until the bottom right button is clickable to continue. If you get a message screen with the only option is to press Circle, the ID is taken)

Screen 5 (Home icon): Name/Sex

First Name
Last Name
Gender (Optional)


Screen 6: Address

Street Address 1
Street Address 2
Street Address 3
City
State/Providence
Postal Code


Screen 7: Subcribe to email notifications? Leave unchecked

Screen 8: Confirm your info. Scroll down to accept (right button)

Screen 9: Done!
