you can't not be all fired up!
Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.

Thirty years from now, when you're sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you, "What did you do in the great World War II," you won't have to say, "Well... I shoveled shit in Louisiana."
el capitan
03-08-2008, 09:05 PM
You're going back to the front, boy. You may get shot, and you may get killed, but you're going back to the fighting. Either that, or I'll stand you up before a firing squad. Why, I ought to shoot you right now, you...

Today... is Christmas! There will be a magic show at zero-nine-thirty! Chaplain Charlie will tell you about how the free world will conquer Communism with the aid of God and a few marines! God has a hard-on for marines because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls! God was here before the Marine Corps! So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your ass belongs to the Corps! Do you ladies understand?

my personal favorite.
Door Gunner (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0170381/): Git some! Git some! Git some, yeah, yeah, yeah! Anyone that runs, is a VC. Anyone that stands still, is a well-disciplined VC! You guys oughta do a story about me sometime!
Private Joker (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000546/): Why should we do a story about you?
Door Gunner (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0170381/): 'Cuz I'm so fuckin' good! I done got me 157 dead gooks killed. Plus 50 water buffalo too! Them's all confirmed!
Private Joker (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000546/): Any women or children?
Door Gunner (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0170381/): Sometimes!
Private Joker (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000546/): How can you shoot women or children?
Door Gunner (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0170381/): Easy! Ya just don't lead 'em so much! Ain't war hell?

SPR is good. Blackhawk Down is decent. Platoon is killer. Pearl Harbor isn't bad for the douchecanoes that play in it.
I have Kingdom of Heaven and Troy, but haven't watched either.
And this is an old one, Memphis Belle. The lines are kinda cheesy since it is an old movie, but the story is great.

ooo, damn. I forgot We Were Soldiers. and this one goes way back as far as wars go, but The Patriot is a good one.
I saw majority of Letters from Iwo Jima a couple of weeks ago. Really interesting to see the movie from the "enemy" prospective.
My grandma told me Flags of Our Fathers is about the conflict in WW2 that my grandpa was part of. He was in the Navy on a LSD (landing ship-dock). I need to see that one.

ok, back on topic, are there any good Civil War movies? I've never seen Glory, so I can't comment on it. But I can't think of any off the top of my head. What about Gods and Generals? Anyone seen it?
