This sub-forum is missing an International element, I'd like to provide you with some interesting discussion.

Today we can talk about the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

The Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols are part of international humanitarian law – a whole system of legal safeguards that cover the way wars may be fought and the protection of individuals.

They specifically protect people who do not take part in the fighting (civilians, medics, chaplains, aid workers) and those who can no longer fight (wounded, sick and shipwrecked troops, prisoners of war).

The Conventions and their Protocols call for measures to be taken to prevent (or put an end to) what are known as "grave breaches"; those responsible for breaches must be punished.

The Geneva Conventions have been acceded to by 194 States and enjoy universal acceptance.

The first Geneva Convention of 1864 dealt exclusively with care for wounded soldiers; the law was later adapted to cover warfare at sea and prisoners of war.

In 1949 the Conventions were revised and expanded:

1st Convention
- wounded soldiers on the battlefield

2nd Convention
- wounded and shipwrecked at sea

3rd Convention
- prisoners of war

4th Convention
- civilians under enemy control

In 1977 two Additional Protocols were added:

1st Protocol
- international conflicts

2nd Protocol
- non-international conflicts

In 2005 Additional Protocol III was adopted:

3rd Protocol
- additional distinctive emblem

I dont think so :run:

National sovereignty is much more important than international laws.

What the fuck do these people know about the interests of the people in certain nations? :ugh:

We do need international law. Butonly to protect our own people. It shouldn't be needed on a daily basis like it is right now all over the world. Besides... I think it's funny that we expect everyone else to abide by the writings in the Geneva Convention when we don't do it ourselves. So... It's a good idea, but we shouldn't need to use it every day.

I agree. The UN is a step towards the NWO. It's a very bad thing for the average person, and would ultimately lead to the downfall of mankind.

if you read the Geneva convention, or even the titles, you will know that it isnt used everyday. It is only used in times and places of armed conflict. It has been ratified by 194 countries, they all want the protection of such conventions if they enter into a conflict.

A good example of a Useful Article in the Geneva Convention is:

Art 3. In the case of armed conflict not of an international character occurring in the territory of one of the High Contracting Parties, each Party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following
provisions:
(1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have laid down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely, without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria. To this end the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:
(a) violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture;
(b) taking of hostages;
(c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment;
(d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgment pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.
(2) The wounded and sick shall be collected and cared for.
An impartial humanitarian body, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, may offer its services to the Parties to the conflict.

The Parties to the conflict should further endeavour to bring into force, by means of special agreements, all or part of the other provisions of the present Convention.

The application of the preceding provisions shall not affect the legal status of the Parties to the conflict.

The interesting part about article 3 is that the combatants we have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan have violated almost every single part of that.

However, we are obligated to follow the convention, giving us a military disadvantage. Furthermore, if you read the entire code, the people we are fighting do no qualify for article 3 protection.

If it wasnt for the ACLU and the liberal idiots in the court system, we would be able to fight this battle just like them. Beat them at their own game if you will.

I never said it WAS used everyday, I said we shouldn't need to use it everyday. Right now, because of our current military quagmires, we should be using it everyday but are not. What I'm saying is that if we weren't in these quagmires, we wouldn't need to use them everyday.

If you must know, I am not anti-Semitic. It’s not possible to hate my own people.

Yes, I am Muslim and an Arab, which also means that I am very much Semitic.

Yeah, but I didn't say anything about Semites, I said Jews...and

Sem·ite–noun

1. a member of any of various ancient and modern peoples originating in southwestern Asia, including the Akkadians, Canaanites, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and Arabs.
2. a Jew.
3. a member of any of the peoples descended from Shem, the eldest son of Noah.

so, let me ask again, do you hate Jews?
