I use ArcGIS, Mapinfo Professional, Google Earth, Frontbase GPS and of course Microsoft Excel and SQL.

Anyone else around? what software do you use?

I have a distribution company and I keep a very detailed and geocoded database of clients and sales routes in all the areas that we serve.

It's connected in real time to our SQL server, so every new sale that is entered in the system is automatically reflected in the map. It looks like this:

This is a sample of the maps that I use:

GIS work is very interesting and extremely useful, especially for a distribution company, I can't even begin to tell you how much help this thing has been for us

I used some a bit for my internship mapping wetlands. Anyone know of a way I could self teach myself to be proficient with these programs?

I just installed it and went to work on it, it took me a while but eventually I got pretty good at it. it helped that I had a real life case to work on though :dunno:

If you mean the colored lines all over the map, they are GSM signal strength measurements collected with specialized drive test equipment. The wedges are cell sites.
