Hi all..

Just thought I'll start a topic all to do with 'smoking', just to see what your thoughts are, what are your likes and dislikes regarding smoking?

- I've only just recently started smoking. I can get annoyed very easily and stressed a lot of the time. Everytime I have a cigarette I feel so cool calm and collected, all the pain and stress is taken away from me. I would only say I've been smoking for about 3 month - and a lot of people can tell a real difference in the way I am. I don't want to smoke, but if I feel so great after one why not? & I could say now I'm addicted :o.

I'm a sociable smoker - hardly ever smoke on my own.

Do you smoke? do you feel it helps calm you down ect?

what's the point of smoking?

did you just think one day "damn, i really could go for some cancer, breathing problems, and smelling like an ashtray"?

i mean, honestly, the stress relief could just as easily be achieved by something more constructive. the reason you feel calm, collected, and clear is not because of what's in cigarettes, but because you take the time to enjoy something for yourself. if you just replaced cigarettes with some other substitute, you'd feel the same and you wouldn't be harming yourself and the people in your immediate vicinity.

if you're gonna smoke, might as well smoke ganja.

I think that it makes girls go from hot to not. I'm sure it is the same in reverse?

PS: what the point?

I used to smoke on & off for many years, more on than off. I just kind of fell into it and got hooked. All the time I smoked I never really liked it though. I felt like a junky constantly jonesing for my next cig, and I always felt like shit afterward. I'm glad I quit.

I smoke very little when I'm drunk, but other than that I won't touch 'em. I just don't see the desire. Stress relief can be found in many other outlets, and much healthier and safer ones, too

i smoke hookah, mainly for the taste and the social atmosphere of it, and I've never felt an addiction withdrawl.

I think cigs smell terrible, and people at my school who smoke always look like they're just waiting for their next cig. Also, the litter of the butts is horrible and disgusting.

so much less bad for you thank cigs.
research it.

i smoke hookah. ill do it because i enjoy the taste and the flavor. ill smoke it alone or with friends

ill smoke cigars on special occasions. birthdays, anniversaries, buddy getting married or having a kid, promotions, etc

i smoke cigarettes. only whenever i go out and get hammered with the friends. could be 3 times a week, and i could miss out on 3 weeks in a row. ive done this for about 4 years now and ive never really had a "craving" during sober times.

i dip. ill go through a can of skoal wintermint pouches about once every 3-4 weeks. ill do it whenever i get stuck in a serious traffic jam (southern california) because i get super angry and the tobacco has a calming, relaxing effect on me. i can only keep it in for about 4-5 minutes before i start to spin. been doing this for 3-4 years now too.

ive been thinking about quitting, but i really see no need to change these habits. every time i use i make a conscious decision to do so and i enjoy the effects. ive always promised myself that id quit for the right girl, or that if i ever wanted to start smoking sober, or if my dip intake kicks up a lot that i would quit.

I think I could do it, I just don't want to...I like smoking :dunno: And fuck cancer, who wants to be old anyways?

I used to, but only when out pub hopping. Kinda got sick of it (and I hated smelling like smoke for hours afterwards), so I tried to quit. It took a few years, but finally kicked it. I dunno, it just seems sorta "meh" to me. I'm all for smoking sections and not forcing smokers outside and 50' from doors (or whatever it is), but still.

Hooka, on the other hand, is great fun and (usually) smells nice. I like pipes as well. I only smoke once a year or so, so not all that often. The cancer issue worries me, but I guess I'll deal with that if it comes to it.

Smoking just isnt worth it. Im sure I lost plenty of opportunities to be with women because of my smokeing. Im absolutely sure of atleast 4. I started when I was 13 to feel cool around my older brother, but just ended up addicted.
Its sad that a 13 year old can obtain cigarettes so easily. There should be some kind of polygraph at cigarette stores when adults go in to buy them to make sure they arent buying for minors.
But anyways, I kicked the habit January 1st, 2007. Been over a year now and I feel sooo much better. I can go up stairs without getting winded by the third step now. Life is just better all around. The hardest part was the first 3 weeks.

I think most smokers got into smoking when they were young, probably around the same age they got their first part time job or so. Working in retail is a bitch, and cigarettes help you through the day. Yes, alcohol is better, but you can't go to work drunk, you can smoke on breaks though. And Cigs are generally easier to get a hold of.
By the time they get into college or whatever, drinking comes into play, and people tend to smoke more when they drink.
By the time thats all said and done, they're addicted.

I used to smoke cigarettes off and on for 2 years and have been dipping since I was 14 and just recently quit. I have always had a hatred for marijuana, mostly because of what I heard about it. That if you smoked it you would want to do crack and do worse things. It wasn't until recently that I started to smoke marijuana, I don't smoke it everyday but I do enjoy it. I would never smoke another cigarette or dip ever again. Personally, I don't feel that smoking cigarettes is worth what you get out of it.

I've honestly never tried a cigarette in my life and have no desire to. Only thing I've smoked was some flavored tobacco out of a hooka at a hooka bar.

I've never had a girlfriend who smoked while we were together (some did after we broke up). But the girl I'm dating now smokes (a lot at that) so I don't know why really don't seem to care that she does.

i don't care if other people smoke, and i think no-smoking laws are wrong
but then again i enjoy not smelling like smoke after coming back from a concert...

I am cigar/hookah guy, so I usually only do it in social settings. Today I smoked some hookah at home to enjoy the evening a bit. I don't go out much, so I treated myself to some hookah. I smoke a cigar maybe once a month on average; pretty chill smoking and hangin with the fellas at the lounge.

Cigarettes are NASTAAAAAAAAY! If I ever smoke, its while playing cards, just to keep myself busy while waiting for the people im playing with to make their moves. Ill only smoke a 'light' cigarette then usually brush my teeth and take a shower asap.

its true smoking is something that people start at a young age. what 40year old do you know that recently started smoking?

i am not looking to insult anybody or imply theyre stupid, but in general i believe intelligent people dont smoke. this is because they are able to process the concept of long term and short term benefits.

in the short term, smoking may seem cool, relaxing and enjoyable and doesnt have an immense affect on you at the time. of course it is a different story when 30yrs later you have been diagnosed with lung cancer and have yellow teeth and have spent more than $5000 or more on cigarettes (on average smokers spend $1700 a year on cigarettes).

its the same principle with money, if you choose to forego short term pleasures and put money you could have bought a new games console with into a bank account, in 30years, with compound interest, you would have quite a large some of money.

dont smoke, think of everythign you could save :)
