cheap range gun.
yeah, but i start out with .38's then jump to .40, then hit the .357's and if i shoot .38's after its kinda :ugh:
basically i get bored with it, i wanna lil recoil for my money.
i think .22's are fun but in like 6 months i think i'd get bored with it.
i think that a great first gun is a .357 revolver because it lets you shoot 2 for the price of 1. and that = more fun in my book.
if you don't like revolvers the 9mm is good because ammo is relatively cheap, and you won't out grow it as fast. you could still carry it daily if you wanted too.

Honestly, I will probably go to the range less then 5 times ever.
I dont really get excited over shooting a stationary target. Skeet is different, and thats the only thing I shoot.
Mostly just for protection.

i know you can get it done with a 22, but after shooting one, i wouldn't bet my life on it. thats just me though, you buy what you want.

as far as protection, +1 on something more than a .22 I rock a Glock 19 with alternating hydrashoks and aguila 65gr alloy hollowpoints.
The P22 has an awesome feel, and this is coming from a guy that feels natural holding a S&W .500 Short Barrell.

Were I going for a .22 pistol to play around with I'd probaby go with the SIG Mosquito over the P22.

i've heard that the mosquito is a little picky on ammo, and a bitch to clean. that being said i've also heard that they are really really accurate

uh.... ok. :ugh:
i'm moving my response away from your dick comments.
yes i have held a model 500, i would have to have a longer barrel. honestly i'm not baller enough to afford the ammo that i would want to put through it. so at this time its one of those "i just won the lottery" things for me.

My P22 has probably 3k rounds through it, 99% suppressed. It gets so dirty sometimes it won't function, that's when I know it's time to clean it. I love it, it's cheap to shoot and I can shoot it all day. I've never gotten bored with it and I won't begin to list all the guns I've had at one point or another, most with a happy switch.
A .22 is good protection..from Coke cans. I've even seen drive-bys on Cops where the bullet went through the guy's pants and bounced OFF his leg without drawing blood. For protection get something else. Anything with a caliber starting with .45 will suffice. Anything less is a girl gun (yes, even the .40, which started life as a downloaded 10mm because FBI girls and small guys couldn't handle the recoil of the issue S&W1006.)
You're not going to get enough practice to be proficient with it at the range in 5 trips.

I started with a H&K USP .40C var 1.
My second gun was a P22 for a cheap range plinker.
I love it.
Third gun was a D. Eagle IMI .50
I have about 5000 rounds through my H&K .40 (my carry gun)
10,000+ thru my P22 along with friends have put probably 2000+ thru it
and my Deagle has seen a total of 28 rounds.
a decent .22 is a key gun for any true shooter.
Trigger time is trigger time.
$8 for 500 rounds of .22
$180 for 500 rounds of .40
$50 for 20 rounds of .50 AE
(fuck I hate cali)

i'm quite happy with it actually. i mean lets face it, if i wasn't married i'd be 300 pounds in an apartment full of empty rockstar cans and pizza boxes. and all of my extra monies would be spent at the strip club.
