Derek Mears will reportedly play Jason Voorhees in New Line Cinema and Platinum Dunes' new Friday the 13th (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=12938) movie.

Ken Kirzinger last suited up and strapped on the Voorhees hockey mask in Freddy vs. Jason.

To be directed by Marcus Nispel from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the film, starring Jared Padalecki ("Supernatural"), is scheduled for a release on February 13, 2009.

I guess there is still a fan base for it, or at least thats their perception. Although, I would much rather watch these poor remakes than the atrocious slasher/horror films that are produce today.
